Upon inception, ION Communications developed a comprehensive spreadsheet to track accounts receivable, effectively meaning the commissions that were expected for both new sales and ongoing recurring payments. Initially this was easy to manage and kept an accurate picture of what was expected versus what was received from the suppliers. The data was retrieved from a paper or electronic report generated by each supplier. Therefore, as the number of accounts and revenue streams grew, this tracking method became increasingly more labor and time intensive . Each payment was manually reviewed, cut and pasted into the spreadsheet, matched to an individual account number, and then also matched to the Sub-Agent or Referral Partner involved in the initial sale.
